The sizeable asteroid is expected to reach its closest point to Earth at 11:13 p.m. ET. However, NASA assures that the upcoming flyby will be a perfectly safe one, as the rock will only come within a safe distance of 2.2 million miles from the planet’s surface. To put that into perspective, that’s 9.3 times the distance between Earth and the moon.
