Winton’s efforts were even more profound than is currently recognised. There were several other transports, including the aircraft carrying 20 children flown out of Czechoslovakia and into Britain with Chadwick, which have never been credited to Winton – despite the fact he organised them. In fact, I can reveal that the true number of lives saved by Winton is closer to 700 than the 669 figure he is credited with.
