Nearly 13 years after the remains of a 1-month-old infant was found in Sacramento, California, authorities have charged a man in connection with the case. According to the New York Times, the man has been identified as 57-year-old Paul Perez of Delano, California, who was already serving time in prison for unrelated offenses.
Paul is a convicted sex offender and was incarcerated since 2010 for several crimes ranging from vehicle theft and the possession of a deadly weapon. Following his arrest, authorities have also charged Perez with the killing of four other infants, all aged below six months.
The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office in a press release issued on January 27 revealed that they had reopened the cold case after they used DNA evidence to identify the remains and were able to link the death to Perez. The names of the deceased infants have also been released.
