Twinkle twinkle Lille’s star is shining

LILLE loves to twinkle, and the beautiful Flemish architecture of its old city is all lit up with shopfronts framed by branches of fir trees and fairy lights. Like most European Christmas markets, this dates back centuries – yet by comparison is quite small. It is set on Place Rihour, once home to a Gothic palace, whose remains are now re-purposed as the main tourist office.
