This Is Us has a new cast of characters for Season 4, but one of them is a standout as fans try to figure out how they all connect to the Pearson clan.
In the This Is Us Season 4 premiere episode, titled “Strangers,” Asante Blackk (When They See Us) made his debut as Malik, a teenager and single dad of an infant daughter. While Malik’s parents Darnell (Omar Epps) and Kelly (Marsha Stephanie Blake) are supportive of his situation, he’s already thinking ahead to $ 10,000 pre-Ks for his baby girl, and he’s not ruling out some dirty drug dealings to pay her way.
Last week, viewers also saw Mailk’s early tie-in to the Pearsons as he was introduced to Randall’s (Sterling K. Brown) daughter Deja (Lyric Ross) at a barbecue. After Deja remarked that she heard Malik makes a good burger, the teen dad said he would give it “everything he’s got” for her.
