Rumors about the possible departure of the 84-year-old Scottish star from the show sparked after he opted to pursue a career as a university lecturer in the earlier episodes of the series’ fifteenth installment. The former Sapphire and Steel star has been playing the role of chief medical examiner Ducky, who is also a close friend of MCRT team leader Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), since the start of the show in 2003.
