Member of the Pro Football hall of Fame member Warren Sapp had a wee accident while lobstering in the Florida Keys, and came away with a shark bite. Since his retirement from the NFL, Sapp has become a regular on charter boats, and went out this week on a charter based out of Marathon in the Florida Keys when he was bitten on the arm by a shark while wrangling for a lobster. Sapp is okay, but now perhaps has the best fish story ever.
According to the Inquisitr, after so much negative news involving former football players like Johnny Manziel, who was fired from football before his career even started, it’s nice to hear an exciting story that ends well, and luckily, Warren Sapp, a Florida native is doing okay, and actually stayed on the boat after the shark bite.

The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that Warren Sapp, a former defensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went for lobster, but ending up catching a shark. Sapp went out on a charter with charter captain Jack Carlson on his boat, The Two Conchs when Sapp had his run-in with the shark, but Carlson assures fans that Sapp is okay. Carlson says they were in nine feet of water when the attack occurred.
“Warren Sapp attacked by a shark while lobstering,” he wrote, adding the hashtag #epicbattle. “The shark wanted the lobster just as bad as Sapp,” he later wrote on Instagram. “Sapp got the lobster and the Shark got his lick in too.”

Warren Sapp was on The Two Conchs with Carlson and friends on Florida Bay, about seven miles out from Marathon when he reached for a lobster that a shark wanted too. It seems that sharks like lobster the same way people enjoy lobster, and sharks tend to congregate outside of the lobster holes. The shark got a bite of Sapp inside of his left forearm.
Carlson explained that Sapp might need a few stitches, but after the bite, he kept on fishing.
“We bandaged it up, put some gauze on there, some black electrical tape and hit a couple more spots, then headed in.”

The Washington Post says that photos of Warren Sapp and his shark injuries are all over social media, but Sapp seems to be taking it in stride. The gash in the photos looks painful, but Sapp seems to be wearing it like a new red badge of courage. The captain seemed to indicate that it sounds worse than it actually is.
“He was lobstering with me and a shark bit Sapp while he was grabbing the lobster. He’s okay.”
Warren Sapp is an avid fisherman, who will be back on the water soon. Sapp is probably preferring this kind of press coverage to some of the other headlines he has been involved in over the last year or so. Sapp was involved in bankruptcy proceedings, got fired from his job as a NFL Network analyst after being accused of assaulting two prostitutes. Last year, Sapp also was charged with domestic violence after an incident with his girlfriend.

But in the end, it seems that Warren Sapp wanted the lobster more than the shark did. Sapp is taking the shark bite in stride, smiling for photos with family and friends, and fishing buddies. Sapp is recovering while enjoying his take from the lobster outing in the Florida Keys.
