Pound US dollar exchange rate up: Barnier suggests Brexit deal ‘still possible this week’

The GBP/USD exchange rate is currently trading at $ 1.2645, having climbed roughly 0.3 percent from today’s opening levels following upbeat comments from the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier. Sterling initially surged as M Barnier told EU ministers in Luxembourg that securing a Brexit deal this week would “be difficult” but “still possible”.
